Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be officially launching in India on September 29, which is the second batch of countries after the initial launch on September 22.

The iPhone 8 price in India for the 64GB variant is Rs. 64,000, while the 256GB model costs Rs. 77,000. Similarly, the iPhone 8 Plus price in India has been set as Rs. 73,000 for the base 64GB storage variant, while the model with 256GB storage is Rs. 86,000.

The iPhone 8 models’ release date in India is September 29, as part of the second phase of release.

Apple iPhone X will cost Rs 89,000 in India for the 64GB variant while the 256GB version will cost Rs 102,000. The iPhone X launches officially on November 3.

The iPhone 8 comes with 4.7-inch Retina HD display with True Tone while iPhone 8 Plus has the bigger 5.5-inch Retina HD display with True Tone.

Both the new iPhone models also support Qi wireless inductive charging, allowing people charge the iPhone without having to plug in a cable again, Phil Schiller, Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide Marketing said.

Both models are water and dust resistant and both phones have Touch ID for authentication and there’s no edge-to-edge display.

Apple’s iPhone-8 and iPhone-8 Plus are powered by A11 Bionic SoC six-core processors and improved GPU, which is 30 percent more efficient than the GPUs in last year’s models. The new SoC and GPU are able to perform complex tasks such as video encoding at much faster rate.

The iPhone-8 still has a single lens camera with 12MP sensor. Apple iPhone-8 Plus has the 12MP+ 12MP rear cameras with Portrait mode, a new Portrait Lighting (beta) and 4K video up to 60 fps. Among other new capabilities, both the new iPhone models can shoot 1080p videos in 240 frames per second.

The iPhone 8 series also has redesigned stereo speakers, which Apple claims are up to 25 per cent louder and deliver deeper bass, etc. On the processor front, Apple is claiming the four efficiency cores are 70 percent faster than the A10 Fusion. The new chip also integrates an Apple-designed GPU with a three-core design that delivers up to 30 percent faster graphics performance.

Apple also says their own accessories including leather and silicone cases will be available in a range of colours for both models starting at Rs 3,100. Also, lightning docks in colour-matching metallic finishes will also be available for Rs 4,700.

From a design perspective, the both models is glass and aluminium and comes in three colours: Silver, Space Grey and a new gold finish. The glass back is to support wireless charging.
