Pune: Three persons were scorched to death when their car catches fire after hitting a cement block near here in the early hours on Wednesday, police said.

This terrible incident occurred in Wadgaon Anand region under the Junnar police station jurisdiction of Pune rural police. Visuals from the spot of the incident show various vehicles passing by the blazing car.

Three men travelling in a white car were charred to death.

The three men, identified as Naresh WaghDilip Chandra Navale and Prashant Chaskar, were travelling in a white car along the Ahmednagar-Kalyan road, according to the police.

“The car driver apparently lost his control over the wheels following which it hit a cement block and immediately caught fire at around 1.30 am near Wadgaon Anand village in Junnar tehsil, about 95 km from here,” a police official said.

Some locals rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. They informed the police who rushed to the spot and the victims were pulled out of the car, The police grabbed those three victims to a hospital and they were declared dead, the officials said.

A police official also said a technical examination by officials of the regional transport office would exactly reveal the cause of the fire, and the reason why the occupants could not come out of the car when it got engulfed in flames.
