Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had reportedly agreed to work with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’. She agreed to take up the role of “Rani Padmavati” on a condition.
Everyone should agree the fact that Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai, the ace stars of Bollywood created magic with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam,” back in 1999.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali the acclaimed filmmaker who apparently wrote ‘Padmavati’ script keeping Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in mind. But, more than a decade back, the two had an ugly break-up.
But Bhansali was up for a tight spot put up by Aishwarya, according to Rajeev Masand’s column in Open Magazine, Aishwarya Rai agreed to take up the role of Rani Padmavati on the condition that if Salman Khan played the role of Alauddin Khilji, the antagonist in the film.
Bhansali with this proposition in hand approached Salman who might have been taken by surprise by imagining himself in the boots of Khilji. The report stated that Salman Khan refused to agree to this condition.
Salman Khan was interested to recreate the magic of ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ with Aishwarya Rai. But he wasn’t keen ready in doing ‘Padmavati’ without having any scene with Ash.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali has now cast Deepika Padukone as Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor as Raja Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as the antagonist – Alauddin Khilji.
‘Padmavati’ is slated to release on November 17 this year.
