BENGALURU: A 28-year-old techie with Accenture was stabbed to death by two bike-borne men near Chocolate Factory, Tavarekere main road, south Bengaluru, early on Monday morning while he was on his way to meet a woman friend.
Pranay Mishra, from Bhubaneswar and a resident of Tavarekere, was found bleeding after being stabbed repeatedly on a road about a kilometre from the house that he rented. Passersby rushed him to hospital where he was declared dead.
Police say Mr Mishra was out partying with friends on Sunday, reached home and then left to meet a female friend who stays nearby. “He has been stabbed multiple times, but no valuable has been taken by assailants, we are probing all angles and have got some leads,” said senior police officer MB Borolingaiah.
Police said Pranay came to Bengaluru after he completed B.Tech in Computer Science from Trident Academy of Technology , Bhubaneswar. His sister Prachi Mishra worked here as a techie. Prachi is married and lives with her husband in Marathahalli.
“A murder case has been registered and investigation is on to find the motive behind the attack, as Mishra’s cell phone and other belongings were found in his shirt and pant pockets,” said the police officer.
The police visited the Accenture office for more information on him from its management and his colleagues; the company has not commented yet on the case.
The accused were caught based on the video footage obtained from a CCTV camera on a mobile phone tower, they said.
When police went to arrest the duo yesterday near Huskur gate, Karthik and Arun were on a motorcycle. They drove towards Chitnamangala and allegedly attacked police by pelting stones. Police fired at Karthik when he whipped out a knife, injuring him in the leg, police said.
Police arrested him while Arun managed to escape. A search is on to nab him, police said, adding, a case of murder and robbery has been registered against the duo.
